Who needs low cost medical care?

The last few years have seen a marked increase in the number of patients in our area who find it hard to afford basic medical care because they are now uninsured or under-insured. I therefore started a special low cost, cash only, program for most of the services our office offers, as well as for many outside services on a negotiated, reduced-fee basis.

Who may benefit from our low-cost cash program?

  • People who can not afford private-pay insurance
  • People who lost their jobs and no longer have COBRA or other assistance
  • Young people who don't think they need medical insurance
  • People with insurance, but with a high deductible (this may include your HSA account)

Regardless of the reason, our office is set up to accommodate your needs, and contain the cost.

Services

What's special about us? We are a relatively small, integrated facility providing health services individually tailored to meet your needs.  Our providers have a common goal: Treat potential problems before they arise, and minimize your need for medication and hospitalization.

Our services include:

  • Internal medicine. Full range of internal medicine services, with particular attention to the identification of health risk factors, and taking the necessary steps to minimize these risks.
  • Pulmonary medicine. Diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic lung conditions, with special attention to shortness of breath, COPD, effects of smoking, asthma and interstitial lung disease. We have an in-house modern lung function testing lab, that does testing usually available only in a hospital setting.
  • Suboxone therapy for opioid dependence. The newest, and most effective way to deal with opioid dependency is Suboxone therapy. Suboxone (itself an opioid), works primarily by preventing withdrawal symptoms and controlling opioid craving. It allows you to remain active in daily life activities such as work and family functions. Physicians must go through special training to become certified in the administration of Suboxone. The advantage of having an internist like myself, rather than a psychiatrist, manage Suboxone therapy is that general medical issues can now be addressed together.
  • Chinese/herbal medicine. As in China, our Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) includes a range of traditional medical practices originating in China. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a common part of medical care throughout East Asia, and is viewed as an alternative medical system in the US. As in East Asia, our TCM therapy consists of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, dietary therapy, and tui na hands-on body work.
  • Acupuncture. We use acupuncture to treat a variety of condition (all recognized by the World Health Organization), such as: Chronic and acute neck and low back pain, muscle strain, migraines headaches, stress related illnesses, heart burn, irritable bowel syndrome, and others. Our acupuncture programs can be integrated with other forms of Chinese medicine and traditional western medicine.
  • Weight loss. We take weight management seriously, and consider overweight to be a chronic condition. Treatment is individualized to your needs and is based on physical findings, lab studies, and specialty studies such as measurement of body fat content and actual measurement of daily caloric expenditure. All weight loss programs are medically supervised.
Our staff is trained to meet your special needs, and the atmosphere in our office is relaxed. Many of our patients tell us they feel like they are part of our extended family.
